The 996 GT3 Cup is a race car made for the Porsche Carrera Cup one-make race series and would heavily influence the first 911 GT3 road car, created to homologate the cup car.
Production started in 1998 and went on until 2005, the model had several updates and this generation of the 911 cup car was the last one with a manual gearbox. The 3.6-litre flat-6 was maintained throughout but power increased from 335hp in its earliest iteration up to 385hp in its last. Weight is about just 1,150kg. Over time it received other aero, cooling, brake and weight-saving upgrades.
This was the last generation of the 911 Cup race cars with a manual gearbox, the successors used sequential gearboxes.
This example is a 2003 model meaning it has the updates introduced by Porsche for the later versions.
